Cardboard is a paper-based material consisting of a fluted
corrugated sheet and one or two flat linerboards. It is widely used in the manufacture of corrugated boxes and shipping boxes. The cardboard medium and linerboard are made of containerboard, a paper-like material usually over 0.01 inches (0.25 mm) thick. Corrugated fiberboard is sometimes called corrugated cardboard. Cardboard is the highest volume material that Kelco recycles
This material is generated from office buildings and sorted to remove other contamination. The quality and value of each grade depends on the degree of sorting involved. Sorted white ledger contains virtually no colored, heavily inked or coated papers. Bales consist of bleached ledger envelopes, copy papers and other used bleached white papers with usual amounts of ink coverage and staples, paper clips and rubber bands. Sorted office paper contains small levels of newspapers and magazines, as well as traces of unbleached papers. And mixed papers are clean, dry papers with trace levels of contamination such as plastics and other nonfiberous material.
These printed papers are generated from either preconsumer generators (such as newspaper, magazine and advertising printers) or postconsumer residential curbside collection programs. Over-issue news sheets are press spoils, misprints and overruns generated from newspaper printing operations
Soft White shall consist of un-printed, coated or un-coated white paper stock, may be buffed or shaved, May contain up to 50% coated groundwood fiber content. Hard White shall consist of uncoated, unprinted, ground wood free white papers and cuttings. May include bond or ledger quality papers. Must be of direct pulp substitute quality. This is a high quality, high priced commodity, mostly found at high grade paper mills
Plastics are a part of everything we eat and drink. From plastic bottles we drink out of every day, to our food containers at the grocery store, plastics are widespread and abundant. Here are the different types: Film and bag film generated by retail and industry including LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP. The material value depends on the amount of moisture, contamination and amount of color; PET bottles; HDPE natural and pigmented bottles; Commingled bottle bales; MDPE, LDPE and HDPE film with/without print; Rigid plastics of all sorts; Post-industrial regrind and off-spec resin
"In the long term, economic sustainability depends on ecological sustainability."
"To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them."
— Theodore Roosevelt
